Recovery teams resume search for missing swimmer at Chatfield State Park

Search and rescue teams on Saturday morning resumed their hunt for a swimmer at Chatfield State Park who went missing Friday afternoon.

Divers with South Metro Fire Rescue and Colorado Parks and Wildlife returned just after 8 a.m. after suspending operations Friday night, South Metro Fire tweeted.

The person was reported missing from the park’s swim beach about 3:20 p.m., and the dive team searched water on the south end of the Catfish Flats area until about 8 p.m., according to SMFR and park officials.

The swimmer was last seen about 60 feet from the shoreline in water about 18 feet deep, Parks and Wildlife said.
